For the 31.6 million American adults living with eczema (also known as atopic dermatitis), managing dry skin is one of the most important ways to reduce the common symptoms of itching and irritation. But sometimes keeping your skin moisturized can conflict with one of your other needs — staying clean.

Many MyEczemaTeam members have discussed the challenge of maintaining moisture in their skin while needing to shower, wash their hair, and keep their skin clean. “After sweating or after a bath or a shower, I automatically start itching,” one member wrote. Another said, “I hate taking showers because of the itching after — it’s miserable.”
